Several More Reasons Why it’s Hard for Human Design Projectors to Wait

Last week I shared a video about “Why it is So Hard to Wait”.  Of all the things that Human Design Projectors are designed to do, waiting is often the most challenging. There are probably several reasons for that which I didn’t discuss in the video and would like to share with you here.  When you understand what may be hindering your waiting process you might find it easier to settle in to trusting that your strategy could actually work for you.

  1. The right big invitations don’t come along that often.  It’s kind of a no-brainer when you think about it.  You only need one big career change, for example, that is so utterly delicious and engaging that it keeps you enraptured for a long time.  Same holds true for relationships.  Some of us are designed to have variety in our lives… even in relationships.  But for the majority, it only takes one utterly delicious partner to keep us enraptured for many years.  So just the right invitation which offers just the right support or growth opportunity is not necessarily something that needs to come along everyday.  Yet the waiting creates an opening.  And the longer you wait the more you may be tempted to fill that opening.
  2. It takes time to align with your authenticity.  If you’re under 25 and have been raised by someone who is intimately familiar with your Human Design this won’t apply to you.  If you’re older than 30, however, you probably lived a lot of life before you even discovered that there was such a thing as a Human Design Strategy.   Because Projectors are here to know the other, we often don’t know ourselves as well.  So most likely when you found out about your design type and started following your strategy you had a lot of relationships and habits in place which were not a true reflection of you.  It takes time to discover the true you.  And it often takes a lot of changing to turn around the momentum of a life which does not fully support you.  When you let go of those unsupportive relationships and habits, initially you experience gaps and holes which could compel you to fill them up with something… anything… which may not be the right fit for who you really are.
  3. Conditioning in the open centers make you want to take action rather than wait.  Of all the design types, Projectors are often the most susceptible to conditioning.  Our energy fields can be like sponges as we take in and sample other people’s energy.  So here’s how it shows up in your life.  The open sacral center compels you to work and do when you’re around sacral beings.  That is the thing we all have in common.  Then depending on your other open centers, you may feel the desire to take actions to be heard, make others happy or prove your worth to name a few.

Waiting isn’t easy with all these forces and dynamics at play.  If your journey to your true Projector self started with lots of gaps because you let go of a bunch of things that were no longer serving you, remember it’s so important to be mindful of how you’re filling the space.  Is there bitterness in your space, despair, insecurity?  If so, try replacing these heavier energies with hope, healing, and love.  When you clean up your waiting space you will probably be pleasantly surprised at what comes in!

Why It’s Hard for Human Design Projectors to Wait

As Projectors who have the Human Design strategy to wait for invitations, the wait time is often unnerving and anxiety producing to say the least.  I thought I had become pretty good at waiting until I decided to really pull back and wait for the next thing to come through my business.  What I learned helped me to understand why it’s hard to wait and why it is also very very important to wait with clarity and trust.

This video was made for anyone who is struggling with waiting for someone.  But for Projectors who often have to wait for so long for a big invitation or even for recognition, the message about what you do while you wait could give you something fruitful to consider.

Recognize When You’re On the Way to Burnout

For the past few weeks I’ve been hard at work… oh that dirty word for Projectors… “Work”… Yes I do that to maintain and grow my business.  As you may know, the work experience for Projectors is often a very different thing from how the rest of the world experiences it.  Yet it often looks the same.  We Projectors usually need lots of space and downtime as we go about our money making opportunities.  And I thought I was doing that until I had an epiphany!  Last week I wrote this post about that over at the Coaching With Sandy blog, and I think it bears repeating here.  The path to burnout starts out faintly and this little realization may help you to recognize it way before it takes full hold.

Don’t Ever Take Time Off Because This Will Happen

IT guy's vacationI was having a wonderful day off not long ago.  My usual intake of internet stimuli had been drastically reduced, and I had all intentions of floating through my day with hardly a thought about work.  Surely my business could survive for just 24 hours without me hovering over it, wallowing in it and doting on it.  Well one would think that would be easy right?  After all, my automatic tweets, social media updates and email responses were up to date.  Appointments had been scheduled and confirmed, and I was at a place in my latest creation where I could stop.  And actually I needed to stop and take a rest… do something else, like actually make a meal by using the stove and maybe even do a little gardening to get my hands in the dirt.

So I want to share what happened next with you because I bet it has happened to you.  I got all relaxed… took a leisurely walk, got a massage, and then took another leisurely walk… just because I could… and POW!  I got just relaxed enough that the creative ideas started pouring in.  All those pieces I needed for my next creative project were floating through the wall I had hit just the night before.  Ugh!  I was supposed to be resting and giving my mind and body a break.  Instead I was spending my precious energy trying to resist sitting at my desk and letting it all flow in.  Panic set in.  If I ended my time off early so I could work on this project some more, then I wouldn’t get the rest I knew I needed to actually complete it.  If I just let the ideas flow through me they might not come back in the brilliant way that they first appeared.  So I compromised and jotted down some notes to review the next day.  That satisfied me a bit.  But my mind, which had only just moments before been in a blissful state of relaxation, was in work mode again.  And there was no stopping it this time.  My body also responded to the high alert of this creative download and was ready to jump back in the desk chair, buckle up and ride this thing all the way home.  I did manage to restrain myself from going for it, but in the gyrations that it took to keep me out of the office I had a major epiphany about why this happens and what it means and why it’s a bad idea to succumb to the temptation to work when you need to be resting.

Well it’s probably not news to you that the creative juices get flowing when the body and mind are relaxed.  So I created that situation by allowing myself to relax… or so that’s what logic would say.  And yes it is true, it was the backing off and letting my guard down that actually allowed the ideas to come.  But here’s the epiphany part… The creative flow that I experienced was actually a teeny tiny signal that I was on a slow descent into burnout.  Yes burnout! … that dirty word that makes you exhausted just from thinking about it.  It was a signal that I had not been giving myself enough rest and space on a regular basis.  Sure I was giving myself a day off.  And actually I had been forcing myself to take a day off in the middle of the week to avoid burnout.  But the truth is that if I had been giving myself what I needed to be relaxed all the time, I wouldn’t have had to force myself to rest.  I would have been well rested and in a perpetual state of relaxation.

So what happened was kind of like slowly turning off the flow of water to your house.  I had very subtly shut down the flow of my creative life-force by pushing a tiny bit here and resisting a little rest there.  And when I turned on my faucet by taking a day off, what rushed out was a backlog of pent up creative energy.  You know how when the water gets turned off at your house you turn on the faucet and what had built up comes rushing out?  When you let it run for a while it runs dry.  That’s kind of like what happens in this very early warning state of burnout.  So if I had allowed the flow to continue in that moment it wouldn’t be long until it all ran out.  That’s what burnout is… a lack of flow because the source is depleted.  I was a ways from becoming totally depleted, but if I had not seen this cue and had that epiphany, eventually the core of me would have run dry.

Don’t let this happen to you.  Listen to your subtle cues.  Don’t succumb to your second winds.  Give yourself lots of breaks everyday, whenever you need them, with no hesitation or apologies.  When you do this the big days off won’t be riddled with the rush of backed up life-force which only gets to come out when you force yourself to rest.  Let it flow all the time and give it plenty of space to spread out.

Everyone is designed to work and rest in a different way.

Human Design Projector Professions – Making a Living Part 1

Hey there it’s Sandy Freschi, Professional Life Coach and Human Design Specialist. And I just want to spend a few moments with my beloved Human Design Projectors, because one of you had a really great question. So I’m going to answer this question in several parts, and first of all I’ll let you know what the question is.

You asked, “if Human Design Projectors have to wait to be invited how do we earn a living?”

And that is a fabulous question. And I’m sure if you have Joss started down your path of learning how to live as a human design projector, and learning to practice your strategy, this may be your number one question. Because many of you are finding that you’re in the wrong jobs. We’re not built as projectors to do the 9 to 5, 40 hour a week grind. And so if you been doing that for a long time and you know instinctively it doesn’t work, and you have gotten that confirmation by finding out you are a projector, you’re probably asking

“What in the world do I do from here to earn a living?”

Well in this video I’m going to just give you a few ideas about what you can do. So as you know, Human Design Projectors are here to manage guide and direct others. I was listening to a lecture by Ra Uru Hu the other day, the founder of human design, talking about the difference between guiding and leading as it pertains to Projectors.  And the differentiation he made is that we are not really here to lead in the traditional sense where we are at the top of the chain of command so to speak, and to order people around. If you’ve tried that before you know that it doesn’t work very well, and if it does work  you’re  probably exhausted by the time you were done doing it. So when we’re talking about managing and guiding and directing, we’re talking about doing it from a place of helping other people find their truth, then helping other people find their directions. We are really good at seeing the big picture and knowing exactly what needs to happen in a situation or what a person needs to do to get to where they want to go. The caveat to that is that we have to be invited to let them know that. So when you’re in a profession where you can do that you’re automatically be invited to do that, as long as your continue to be aware of how you are communicating through your energy field, how you’re affecting people by  your energy field and you honor that and you don’t push.

So here are some great career ideas for Projectors.

Number one on the list is coaching, and I love coaching. I just love coaching because I don’t have to find the answers for people because I recognize that people have their own answers. Those answers just need to be brought out in ways that the person can use. So that’s what coaching is all about in terms of helping other people and guiding and directing them.

You can also be a consultant. If you have an expertise in something you can use that to consult with other people to help them get a handle on what they’re trying to achieve through your own expertise. And then of course they invite you in when they hire you to consult with them and tell them what needs to be changed and what they need to do.

Healing is the other profession that is really great for Projectors, because most of us are very open and our energy fields, and we take people in very deeply and we know what they’re about. And when we get really good at managing our own energy we have a transformative effect on other people, and a healing effect. When you couple that with mastery in a healing technique or two then you’ve got a really great combination to help guide people to a better place of wholeness and health. So that’s another thing that you could possibly do.

Of course you could also have a traditional managerial position in a company as an employee, and that would work really well also as long as you have the expertise to feel that you’re managing in, and you’re given the leeway to honor the ups and downs of your energy so that you can replenish. For instance, if you’re a manager and you have your own office then you can close the door to get away from other people so that you can discharge all that energy that you picked up and rest a little bit between your different tasks. So that’s another thing of course that Projectors can do to earn a living.

I’ve also seen Projectors as… I also know a few projectors who are fabulous actors, very talented actors and artists. Of course this is on the fringe of nontraditional and it may not bring you immediate financial reward. But if it’s something you have a gift at it something you must pursue at least on some level.

So the key to finding a career or a way to earn a living as a Projector is to find what you really love and go very deeply into it.… And to study it… And to… Embody it… And live it and breathe it…

Now when I was a massage therapist I had a very vibrant and thriving massage business. One of the secrets of my success, (even though I wasn’t fully aware of living my projector strategy, and a lot of times I was following the generator model)… But one of the things I credit to my success of there is that I didn’t immers myself in massage techniques that really put me a cut above in terms of skills of everyone in my area.

So when you approach a job, whether you’re an employee or whether you’re becoming an entrepreneur or are an entrepreneur, that’s something to keep in mind. When you go deeply into what you love and you bring that out and share it with others people will naturally flock to you because they will know that you have the answers. And they know that you can help them find the answers for themselves.

So here’s your assignment for today…

Sit down and take about 5 minutes, and just make a list of all the possible things you would love to do. Now take out the whole issue of how much does it pay or would people pay for this and all of that. Just make a list of all those things that you would love to do… in terms of work, in terms of what you would love sharing, in terms of what your gifts and talents are. And then choose one or two that are at the top of your list and ask yourself how you can begin to do those things or move toward those things in your life… regardless of whether or not you’re working at those things now.

So that’s my tip for today or that’s my answer for this question for today. I know that some of you are really struggling with finances, so in the next video I’m going to talk a little bit about how you survive for naturally as a projector while you’re waiting for that great invitation. So until the next time go ahead and do the assignment, leave a post on my blog or e-mail me and let me know what you came up with. I look forward to hearing from you and I look forward to talking to you again real soon!
